Cultivating Purpose in the Third Third of Life

Join us at Saint Matthew Lutheran Church on Sunday, October 4, 2026 at 4:00 PM for an inspiring evening of reflection, community, and action as we explore how older adults can become a powerful force for justice, hope, and human flourishing in our world today.

We are honored to welcome Keynote Speaker Cynthia Moe-Lobeda — renowned theologian, ethicist, and author of Building a Moral Economy — for a timely and transformative conversation about addressing the moral complexities of our age, including climate change, democracy, global conflict, and economic injustice.

At Saint Matthew, we believe those in the “third-third” of life possess extraordinary wisdom, passion, resources, and capacity to shape a more just and compassionate world. Yet many wrestle with where to begin in the face of overwhelming global challenges.

This event is designed to inform, inspire, and equip participants with practical moral tools to move from paralysis to purposeful action — helping us all “live in ways that give rise to joy and flourishing for all.”

Come be part of a growing community committed to meaningful connection, spiritual depth, and faithful engagement with the world’s most urgent issues.

We hope you will join us for this catalytic evening of vision, courage, and hope.

Lunch & Learn - Rightsizing for Comfort and Safety

In connection with Sensational Seniors

Rightsizing is about creating a living situation that truly fits your current and future lifestyle needs. For many seniors, this may mean reorganizing or simplifying their current home, making important updates or adaptations to improve safety and accessibility, or even moving into a new home that better supports aging in place. Rightsizing isn’t always about downsizing — it’s about finding the “right size” and setup for your stage of life.

A light lunch will be served.

Our speaker for this event is Andriana Mendez, Co-Owner of Custom Moving Solutions and Founder of Sensational Seniors.

Connect Night

Connect Night

We are creating space for something simple and meaningful: connection. Join us for an evening dinner designed to help you meet new people, share stories, and feel more at home in our community. We will gather around round tables, enjoy a good meal, and engage in guided conversations that invite everyone into the mix. No awkward icebreakers, just thoughtful questions, good listening, and the kind of shared table where real connection can begin.

This night is also a chance to take your next step into community life. You will be able to learn about and sign up for Life Groups, explore ways to serve, and discover other opportunities to get connected in ways that fit your season of life. Whether you are brand new, returning after some time away, or have been here for years but are ready to deepen relationships, this evening is for you. Come as you are, bring your curiosity, and pull up a chair. There is a place for you at the table.

First Communion Instruction

Our First Communion milestone is coming up!

This milestone has two parts. We will begin with an instructional meeting for parents and kids together on Sunday, October 16 at 11:45 AM. In this session we will share lunch and talk about what communion is, and why it is an important part of our faith journey. This will be followed by our celebration of First Communion the following week, on Sunday, October 23 during the 10:00 worship service. There is a materials fee of $20 per child.

The First Communion milestone is open to all children age 4 and up, and your family is welcome to participate when you feel your child is ready to learn more about who Jesus is and how communion represents His great love for us.
