Fall Lecture Series

The Scriptures are tales of a people in motion, and the biblical plot line seethes with the deeply human tension between settling down and moving on. Jesus himself was perpetually in motion, leading his disciples from town to town, their physical movements mirroring the spiritual odyssey on which he led them.

Faith grows. Our theology moves with us. We begin with what was handed to us. Over time we ask new questions, find new soil, and keep learning.

Parenting Today

Parenting today comes with real challenges—from rising youth anxiety to digital overwhelm and emotional burnout. In fact, the U.S. Surgeon General recently issued an advisory highlighting a growing crisis: over 70% of parents say they’re struggling with stress, anxiety, or burnout, and many feel isolated in the effort to care for their kids’ well-being.

You don’t have to do this alone.

We’re partnering with Dr. Allyson Mayo, Doctor of Behavioral Health and founder of Behavioral Fitness, to bring an engaging, judgment-free conversation designed for parents, guardians, and caregivers. You’ll walk away with practical tools to strengthen your own mental wellness, better understand the emotional needs of youth, and build stronger, healthier connections at home.

Lecture Series: Speaking of Jesus

Sharing our faith can sometimes feel intimidating, like we need to have all the right answers ready. Some of us shy away from these conversations; others seek them out. But rarely do we feel as prepared as Jesus seemed to be.

In Speaking of Jesus: The Art of Non-Evangelism, Rev. Art Barrett will guide us in exploring a different approach. Instead of getting caught up in defending ideas or debating beliefs, we’ll learn how to point people to Jesus himself—the friend who changes everything.

This series will help us:

  • Let go of "us vs. them" thinking

  • Draw others toward God through everyday conversations

  • Focus not on -isms or -ologies, but on the living story of Jesus

  • Discover the tools, stories, and foundations Jesus offers for genuine connection

Come and discover how ordinary conversations can open the way to extraordinary grace.

Dates: Thursdays, May 8, May 15, May 22, May 29, 2025
Time: 7:00 PM
Location: Saint Matthew Chapel
Facilitator: Rev. Art Barrett
Cost: $20 (for the book)
