Katrina Mission trip to New Orleans  15 servants from Saint Matthew Lutheran Church traveled to New Orleans to help spread the Gospel through an outpouring of love and solace for the victims of hurricane Katrina. They actively supported the major cleanup effort and through this work helped the Hurricane survivors get their lives back on track.

ELCA: Jim and Judy Bangsund teach at Makumira University College (MUCO) which is the primary theological college (seminary) of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania. 

ELCA World Hunger improves the lives of people in need in the US and around the world by: providing immediate relief for people affected by chronic hunger and poverty, assisting whole communities through long-term sustainable development, and advocating for justice by changing laws and systems.

Lutheran World Relief works with partners in 50 countries to help people grow food, improve health, strengthen communities, end conflict, build livelihoods and recover from disasters.

Mexico Youth Mission Trip: Over 50 high school students from our church devote spring break to build homes for needy families in Mexico with the Amore Ministry group.

Sharing the Gospel in Japan:
Japan is perhaps one of the most difficult mission fields in the entire world. In spite of the Gospel having been shared with the people of Japan over the past centuries, only 1/2 of 1% of the people of Japan are Christian. Over the years, Saint Matthew has generously supported the labors of dedicated evangelists serving in the province of Chiba, which is a largely rural peninsula located southeast of Tokyo. Wycliffe Bible Translators: Larry and Linda Snydals are in Cuiaba, Brazil bringing the gospel message to the indigenous of Brazil through media. They travel to very remote villages to work with native speakers to record the Jesus film and Gospel of Luke. Young Life in Krasnodor, Russia: Ministry includes summer camps, weekly clubs for kids with 50-100 kids per club, weekly bible studies for girls and boys, and orphanage visits. Older children from the orphanage (rarely allowed out) visit clubs on the weekends.

Young Life in Russia & Baltic States:  Jeannie and Gary Parsons lead a ministry which spans across 11 time zones. Leaders are trained to outreach with orphanage clubs, street feeding programs, clubs for deaf children and those with disabilities. The ministry centers have become a gathering spot during the week for mentoring, training, sports activities and provide a safe place to be.
