Sundays

Mission Partner Class: 2-session class, Sunday April 11  at 11:00 am in the church office and Sunday April 18  at 11:30 am ( lunch)  at the home of the Pierce’s.  What does it mean to    become a partner in the vision and mission of Saint Matthew?  What are our values and basic beliefs?  How do I begin or continue to grow spiritually?  How do I become a part of this community of faith?  Where should I be involved?  Get the answers to these questions and more.  If you are new to Saint Matthew or have been here awhile and never made a commitment, please join us  for these 2 sessions and then decide if you want to become a partner in our mission of faith.

Sunday 9:30 am Bible Study Servanthood: in the Gardenside Room from 9:30 –10:30 am. A closer look at scripture exploring what it means to be a “humble servant “. Begins Sunday, May 2. Come any Sunday. Leader: Fro Butler and Dave Pierce

Adventures with Jesus:    11:00 am in Gardenside Room.  Four week study of some of the basics.  All new Mission Partners are especially encouraged to come as well as others hoping to meet  new people. Begins Sunday April 25. Leader:  Rob Pattison

Developing a Deeper Devotion to Christ:   Begins  April 11 at 11:00 am (first Sunday will begin at 11:30)  This group is comprised of many recent Mission partners, eager to meet others at Saint Matthew.  Consider this a great group in which to grow and invest in new friendships.  Ends May 30.  Hosted at Janet and Christer Jansson’s home near church.  Leader:  Greg Russell

Living the Life:  Every other week 4:30-6:00 pm,  beginning April 19 at  Pierce’s home. Study and discussion to strengthen faith and make spiritual practices an integral part of our lives.   Leader:  Nancy Pierce / Kim Miller

Study and Serving: 7:00-8:30 pm,  Formerly led by the Ashlocks, this group will now be led by Jim Vandersloot.  A new study will be selected after Easter.  This group is also active is serving in the Monument Corridor.  Begins April 19 at the home of Ann Pierce

Grandmothers Group:  9:45-11:15 am in  the Red Classroom. Bible study and prayers for grandchildren .  Study of hymns.  Outreach projects include layette and literacy projects.  Leader:  Barbara Groenveld

Book Discussion (Women):  Meets 1st Tuesday of the month at various homes.  May book selection=The Sacred Cipher, by Terry Brennan;  June book selection=Havah by Tosca Lee.    Leaders: Christine Anderson and Larissa Gallagher.

Early Risers (Women):  7:00 am at church in the Red classroom  A study of the Women of the Bible. Ongoing, join any time.  Leader: Marlene Ciminera    Register

 Black Bear Diner (Men): 7:00-8:00 am, Meet for  breakfast and discussion on scripture for the week.  Ongoing—join any time.  Leader:  Duane Ludwig

Lectio Divina (Women):  Each week take a new passage of scripture and learn to pray it.  Explore this new way to be still and listen for God.  No previous experience necessary.  Also time for sharing and fellowship. Wednesdays 5:30-7:00 pm at the home of Sarah deYoung  (near church) Register

Moms of Little Ones:  9:30-10:45 am in Stenman.  Strengthening faith and seeking sanity.  4 week session begins April 14. Loving childcare provided.  Leader:  Bernita Alfonzo   Register

Thursdays

Coffee Connection:  On Thursdays April 22 and May 6, come for coffee, goodies and fellowship in the Gardenside Room from 9:30-11:00 am  Bring your neighbors or friends and enjoy the company of other women here at Saint Matthew.  Register

Bible and Brew :  Join this fun and completely   non-threatening group of men as they enjoy each other’s company and look at some aspects of faith together.  Both non-alcoholic and alcoholic  beverages served.  Give this group a try.  Begins April 15 7:00-8:30 pm.  Location TBA   Register

Fridays

Hubcaps (Men):  7:00am at Hubcaps Restaurant in downtown Walnut Creek.  Devotion and discussion group.  Ongoing—join any time.  Leader:  Jerry  Hanson  Register

Study of Hebrews: (for men and women) Friday nights from 7:00-9:00 pm at the Thiemanns.  Expand on the sermon series and examine similarities to those dangerous times for the early church to today’s dangerous times. Just as they were called to live differently, hope more fervently and trust  completely, how does that challenge us today? Walking Group  for Women :  Are you looking for other women to walk with or  some consistency and interesting conversation or maybe a training regime?  Whether you are a newbie or a serious walker,  come to church north parking lot at 8:30 am ,  beginning Saturday April 17 and join others at your pace.  Moms in the Park:  Moms of little ones will gather with the kids at various parks this year.  Begins in May. Add your email to the list. All moms (and grandmothers) invited.

Layette Ministry:  Donate layette items by May 9 and help assemble layettes on May 11, 7:00 pm at church.  Sign up at the Welcome Center.

Men’s Breakfast:  Saturday May 15 in the Fellowship Hall at 8:30 am

Young Couples Group:  A new group will be forming this summer for monthly couple potluck dinner and discussions.  Register if interested.

Outflow  Outreach week:  May 2-9 service  outside of the walls of Saint Matthew

Young@Heart:  For retired and semi-retired. Monthly activities, field trips and potlucks. Call Bob Munson, 831-2173.
