Music at Saint Matthew

Saint Matthew has a rich musical heritage and a diverse expression through musical styles.  Here are a few of the ensembles that offer up their talents in worship.

Worship Team
The Saint Matthew Worship Team is the musical backbone of our Sunday Morning worship services.  Led by Worship Arts Team Leader, Jason Bendickson, this diverse and talented group of vocalists and instrumentalists leads music that draws us closer to the heart of God.  Sometimes it's a pop song, sometimes it's an organ-led hymn, but it's always directed to God in worship.  Rehearses Tuesdays at 7:00pm.  Contact Worship Arts Team Leader, Jason Bendickson.

Choir
The Saint Matthew Choir celebrates the rich heritage of choral singing at Saint Matthew.  This group sings about twice a month and is always open to new people joining at any time.  Rehearses Thursdays at 7:30pm.  Contact Worship Arts Team Leader, Jason Bendickson or Choir Director, Geoff Carter.

Men's Ensemble
Meets on Saturday mornings at 9:00am (when called).  This group sings about six times per year.  Contact Worship Arts Team Leader, Jason Bendickson

Bells
The Bells of Saint Matthew masterfully bring the bell ringing heritage to the mix of our blended style at Saint Matthew.  Rehearsals are Mondays at 7:00pm.  Contact Worship Arts Team Leader, Jason Bendickson or bell director Geoff Carter.

Brass

We occasionally use brass in our worship services, usually on major church festival days like Christmas and Easter.  If you're interested in offering your brass playing skills in worship, contact Worship Arts Team Leader, Jason Bendickson.

Children
We have two music groups for children.  Cherub Choir for children kindergarten through 1st grade and Kids' Praise for kids in 2nd through 5th grade.  The children sing and play instruments as well as learn about music and how to worship God through music.  Wednesdays at 4:15pm.  Contact Worship Arts Team Leader, Jason Bendickson or Children's Choir director, Laurie Van Buskirk.

Teens
Sunday Morning IMPACT is led by a worship band of teens!  Contact Pastor David Dykes if you're interested in playing or singing in this group.

Other Arts
Here are some of the other artistic expressions we use in worship.

Drama
We integrate drama into our worship time and for special events throughout the year.

Sound, Light & Media
We use media as a method of reaching people.  On Sunday mornings, we have sound technicians running the sound board and recording the messages for distribution and a Media team that is involved in running the presentation software for the morning worship services.  We also create videos that get used in worship and as announcements.  If you're interested in volunteering in these or any other media ministry, contact Worship Arts Team Leader, Jason Bendickson.
